History

Yakeba was established by Bob Monkhouse to provide help for Balinese with problems with alcohol, drugs or HIV/AIDS.

Timeline

1974 – Bob arrives in Indonesia.

1982 – Bob settles in Bali.

1998 – Bob starts attending AA meetings in Ubud.

End of 1998 – First AA meeting in Bahasa Indonesia.

Mar 15, 2004 – Funding from YKIP.

2005 – Yakeba programmes reach 8,329 school children.

2006 – 1,137 community members attend Yakeba events.

2006 – Programme for village youth groups.

2006 – Peer education training curriculum.

Jun 11, 2008 – Yakeba given UN Red Ribbon Award.
